Hillcrest Community Center

Topeka, Kansas

The Owner had previously retained another Architect to develop a preliminary design to remodel the Hillcrest Community Center, originally constructed in 1977. The resulting concept would have cost 3 to 4 million dollars to implement. SCP&R alternately selected the design/build team of Senne Company and Civium Architects to develop a more modest, phased project approach that accomplishes the same goals of updating the facility’s aesthetics, making the center more inviting, and improving building security. The Design/Build team developed an initial project to create a new, more visible front entry and remodel the multi-purpose lobby with new finishes, new furnishings, and better sight lines to adjacent activity areas.
