Community National Bank
Retirement Plans Division
Seneca, Kansas
Community National Bank needed to build a new building for their growing Retirement Plans Division. The site selected was located across the street from the bank’s main office, situated at the east end of downtown Seneca’s Main Street commercial district. The bank wished to create a building that served as a gateway to the commercial district and complemented the historic buildings. So, a tower was placed on the corner to mark the terminus of the commercial district. Red brick with stone detailing was chosen to match many of the older commercial buildings. The proportions and arrangement of window openings also mimicked the patterns seen on the older buildings. The bank’s operations were arranged on the garden level and street level. The second floor was initially left vacant for future expansion or possible leasing to a tenant.
